Material and Structure
GDT Silk Suture is a sterile non absorbable surgical suture made from fibroin, an organic protein derived from the domesticated species Bombyx mori. It is supplied as a black braided suture treated with silicone to reduce capillarity and improve handling performance.
Strength and Handling
The braiding technology creates a compact thread with high tensile strength, providing extended tissue support during healing. Silk is widely appreciated for its soft feel, excellent flexibility, and knot security, making it one of the most comfortable suture materials to handle during clinical procedures.
Clinical Benefits
The silicone treatment helps reduce fluid wicking along the thread, while the black color improves visibility during placement and removal. GDT Silk Suture offers minimal tissue reactivity and is especially suitable for skin closure and other procedures requiring dependable non absorbable wound support.
Available Sizes and Sterilization
GDT Silk Suture is available in USP sizes 3 0, 4 0, and 5 0, each supplied with a 3/8 circle 20 mm reverse cutting needle and 75 cm suture length. The product is sterilized with EO ethylene oxide.
