Material and Structure
GDT PLX Suture is an absorbable monofilament suture composed of 100% poly(p-dioxanone), a synthetic homopolymer of polyester, supplied in violet. Its monofilament structure supports easy passage through tissue and contributes to its excellent biocompatibility profile, making it one of the safest materials available for implantation in the body.
Handling and Tissue Passage
The monofilament construction of GDT PLX Suture allows for smooth, easy passage through tissue with minimal resistance. It supports easy knot placement and great knot security, giving clinicians confident and controlled handling throughout the closure process. These properties make it particularly well suited for soft tissue management and guided tissue regeneration procedures.
Clinical Benefits
GDT PLX Suture offers the longest wound support period among absorbable sutures. It retains approximately 70% of its initial tensile strength after 2 weeks, 50% after 4 weeks, and 25% after 6 weeks of implantation. Wound support is provided for up to 50 days, and 35 days for USP sizes 3 0 and 4 0. Complete absorption occurs progressively over 180 to 210 days. Its predictable absorption rate, zero tissue reactivity, and excellent histocompatibility make it a highly reliable choice for procedures requiring long-term wound support and a clean healing environment.
Available Sizes and Sterilization
GDT PLX Suture is available in USP sizes 3-0, 4-0, and 5-0, each supplied with a 3/8 circle 19 mm reverse cutting needle and a 75 cm suture length. The product is sterilized with EO ethylene oxide.
