Clinical Use
GDT PerioFocus is a small biodegradable periodontal chip intended for insertion into periodontal pockets as an adjunct to scaling and root planing procedures. It is designed to help reduce pocket depth and support periodontal treatment in patients with periodontitis.
Chlorhexidine Release
Once inserted, the chip absorbs saliva, expands, and gradually dissolves within the pocket. This allows chlorhexidine gluconate to circulate throughout the treatment site. Each chip contains 2.5 mg of chlorhexidine gluconate, with 40% released within the first 24 hours and the remaining 60% released gradually over up to 10 days.
Product Benefits
GDT PerioFocus is non antibiotic and biodegrades completely after placement, so it does not require removal. It is designed to help suppress the growth of bacteria in subgingival plaque while providing a simple and efficient local delivery method for periodontal pocket management.
Direction for Use
Open the individual foil pouch and grasp the chip at the flat end with suitable forceps. Insert the curved end first into the periodontal pocket and press it apically to the base of the pocket. After proper insertion, the chip should rest subgingivally at the base of the pocket, where it will gradually biodegrade over time.
