Description
Clinical Use
GDT Hemosponge Hemostatic Sterile Sponge is a biocompatible material used for the treatment and prevention of inflammatory complications in surgical dentistry and periodontics. It is suitable for use after tooth extraction, including cases involving alveolitis and periodontal abscesses, as well as for filling periodontal pockets after local anti inflammatory therapy or curettage.
Material Properties
The sponge is non-toxic, non-allergenic, non-immunogenic, and non-pyrogenic. It adheres easily to the bleeding site and is designed to support local blood clot formation while creating favorable conditions for tissue healing.
Absorption and Performance
GDT Hemosponge absorbs approximately 40 to 50 times its own weight, helping manage bleeding and wound fluids effectively. It is fully absorbed within about 3 weeks, so no removal is required after placement.
Direction for Use
After tooth extraction or root removal, the socket should first be cleaned to remove granulation tissue, infected tissue, and bone fragments. One sponge cube can then be placed into the socket with tweezers, followed by a dry tampon on top. In traumatic extraction cases, the sponge may also be sutured in place.
In periodontal applications, the sponge can be placed in the area of the periodontal defect after treatment, where it helps promote blood clot formation and supports rapid wound healing.
