Description

Clinical Use

GDT Hemosponge Silver is a sterile gelatin collagen sponge developed for hemostatic support and wound management in dental surgical sites. It is suitable for socket extraction cases and may be used as part of one stage or two stage implant placement protocols where local bleeding control and protected healing are required.

Composition and Action

This sponge combines collagen based hemostatic action with 5% colloidal silver. The material helps stabilize the surgical site, support clot formation, and improve wound adaptation within the cavity. It can be cut to the required size, allowing more precise placement in smaller wound areas.

Silver Effect

The addition of colloidal silver provides antibacterial support without promoting bacterial resistance. Because the silver is not washed away from the sponge, it remains within the material and provides a longer lasting depot effect compared with soluble antibacterial additives.

Wound Protection and Healing

By helping fill the cavity and adapt to the wound, GDT Hemosponge Silver may help reduce the risk of fissure formation and secondary cavities that could otherwise develop from contraction of the blood coagulum. This supports a cleaner healing environment and helps reduce the risk of contamination from saliva.

Resorption and Sterility

GDT Hemosponge Silver is gamma-ray sterilized and fully resorbs in approximately 3 to 4 weeks, so no removal is required after placement.
